How To Create A Website On Wix
If you want to create your own website and don’t know how to start, this article is just for you. Recently I had to work on Wix to create my own website. In this article, I will be sharing with you how you can create a website from scratch without any prior knowledge. Wix is a free website builder, to start first visit Wix then click on get started.
Fill your details and then select category after that you will get two options one is to create a website from scratch and the other will be to let WIX ADI create a website for you. In my suggestion, you should let WIX ADI create a website for you. The steps will be the same for all categories just templates and themes will be a bit different.
According to your need select the features that you want to add on your website, then give a name to your website I am selecting DD world don’t worry the name can be changed later if you are not sure about the name currently. Then enter all the basic details like address, logo, phone number, etc, you can also skip this step if you want.
Now select your theme according to your choice and then your homepage design. To find designs that match your site, you can filter the templates by category, and you can also view each template in demo mode. Once you have found a template that fits with your project, select Edit. After setup is done in just 2 steps your website will be ready to get published.
1. Customize Website
Just by simple drag and drop editing, you will be able to create your own website. To get started, click on an element on the page to alter its settings, resize or reposition it, change colors, rewrite the text, and much more. Any changes you make will appear in real-time, so you’ll instantly know how your site will look to visitors. You can also select and add elements from left side options to make your website more interactive.
Menu and Pages Settings
Under Menus and Pages, you will find your site’s pages. Here you can add new pages, create subpages, as well as rename, hide or delete pages, and change the order that they appear on the menu.
This is also where you can access your pages’ Setting options, which house a few key options:
- SEO – Add metadata to each page to help your content get found in the search engines.
- Social Share – Add the images and text that will be displayed when each page is shared on social media.
- Permissions – Select who can view each page and create restricted content or members-only pages.
Wix allows you to change the background color or image, or display a video background. You can either upload the image of your choice or you can choose from the Wix library, Wix provides you with free access to many images videos, and elements you can search image and easily find your image. You can set your backgrounds like color, image, or video. You can also apply the same background to all pages or create different backgrounds for different pages.
Under Add, you can add as many as elements as you want to your website pages including…
- Galleries and images
- Interactive slideshows
- Videos and music
- Video & Music
To add an element to your site, drag and drop it in the appropriate place on a page.
Wix has a huge app market that helps you provide a solution, add features and many more. Wix app market is the soul of your website according to your specification you can add apps search for apps. We recommend you to search for apps before adding it.
The Wix App Marketplace provides a range of free and premium applications that can add extra features to your website. Tap the Apps icon to enter the store, and then search the applications to find one that would interest you. Here are just a few of the most popular apps available today …

To install a free app, open the app’s page and click Add to Site.
If you want to add a blog to your website, select the Start Blogging icon. Then click on Add to add the Wix Blogging Manager app to your website. Under My Blog, click on Create New Post. Here you can add and publish new posts within the Blog Manager. You can also view and manage your posts by selecting My Blog > Manage Posts.
After adding all the elements in your site now its time to check the final preview. It is important to check both mobile and desktop previews to make sure that your website is mobile-friendly. You can also edit special changes in the mobile view. Make sure that your mobile view is not congested. There are more features to add under setting and tools you can select and add from them.
2. Publish Your Website
Once you are done with all the changes you need to publish it to make your website publicly available.
Select Publish on the menu at the top to do so. However, the last step in the process is to create your own subdomain or attach a custom domain, before Wix publishes your site. For a serious website, rather than using a Wix subdomain, you can certainly add your own custom domain name. We recommend you to purchase from outside or you can update your Wix account to premium and select a plan according to your requirements.
You can still make your website visible but it won’t be a good option here is a link to our PROTOTYPE SITE where you can see how we added features and we haven’t purchased any domain https://writingwingsforu.wixsite.com/mysite-1
After publishing your website you can manage its marketing SEO and add many other settings. You will be able to edit and change your website from the dashboard under site action.

We highly recommend Wix to small businesses and to users who don’t have any prior knowledge. I believe Wix is pretty good as a website-builder. It ticks off all of the right checkboxes in its primary feature (the mobile website editor is a nice touch) and can be used to quickly create websites. There is still tremendous value-added on top of that, with the new functionality and marketing resources. However, with this site builder, there are a few major caveats that prevent me from recommending it unhesitatingly. Above all – the fact you’re stuck with Wix. To me, it is a big turn off not being able to switch the site somewhere else. This is something that has long-term consequences and is not easy to judge for new (or even veteran!) website owners.
